The Massachusetts Mandate - Ultimatum to Progressives

The message of Massachusetts was based on exactly what has happened in the last year contrary to what local critics assert. The litany of Obama's broken promises, the overt disregard for the will of the people, the fuzzy math of progressives with jobs saved or created that continued in the President’s speech Wednesday night, and the constant blaming of Bush shown again by Obama during his address to both houses of congress. Even the sycophantic media is now growing tired of the President’s constant lack of ownership for his and congress' actions.

How we move forward from here depends on the ability of this President to actually keep his promises and show us that his words directly relate to his deeds. It also depends on the Democrats being willing to meet in true bipartisan fashion and not demand Republicans prostrate themselves and leave all their ideas behind. Bipartisanship is a meeting of the minds, not a bullying into submission. The onus of balance in the senate is not on the minority Republicans, but on the Democrats to stop playing their totalitarian games and genuinely meet at the centrist table.

If you don't think Democrats on the hill are worried and scrambling, I’d point out the many Democrat retirees in both the house and the senate in the last month and at least one defector from their ranks. I don’t think the Democrats would be hurling themselves overboard if their collective ship was strongly underway to congressional Valhalla. We see very prominent Democrats now publicly disagreeing with the President and fighting amongst themselves hurriedly trying to preserve their own power, positions in the party, and elected offices.

Americans are tired of hearing Obama's nebulous rhetoric, populist preaching, and demonizing of those who would grow the economy. His poll numbers the day after his speech were even lower, mostly due to Americans waking up to a President that's quick to say virtually anything to improve his image, but lacking the ability to back it up with his actions.

To conservative critics, bring on the petty personal attacks, these Alinsky tactics only serve to mobilize the opposition even more and strengthen our resolve. These types of things are confirmation to conservatives that the progressive left is worried and have no arguments on the merits. Thanks for letting us know we're on the right track!
